Andrew Masters, Partner & Head of Employment, Furley Page

Andrew has over 25 years’ experience of advising clients on all aspects of employment law and related HR issues, contentious and non-contentious. In addition to complex, strategic, and high value employment matters, including discrimination, whistleblowing, employment disputes with directors and senior employees, large scale TUPE, redundancy and restructuring exercises, he frequently advises employers on day-to-day HR and employment law issues such as absence and performance management, disciplinary and grievance situations, and dismissals.

He is an experienced speaker and trainer in employment law and regularly presents at HR forums, business conferences and in webinars.

Andrew is the HR Staff Partner at Furley Page and a trained Mental Health First Aider providing pastoral and welfare support. He recently led the important project on the firm's Core Values. He holds the Certificate of Training as an Accredited Mediator with the London School of Mediation.

He has been highly commended and ranked for several years by Chambers UK and the Legal 500 Guides, which are authoritative guides to lawyers and law firms. He is ranked in the South East as 'Leading Individual' in the latest edition of the Legal 500.

Patrick has over 20 years’ experience as a specialist employment lawyer supporting clients, both employers and individuals, across the full spectrum of employment law. His practice ranges from day-to-day advice on employment relations issues to handling complex Employment Tribunal litigation. He has particular experience and interest in working with clients in the higher education, local government, and charity / not-for-profit sectors.

Patrick’s areas of specialism include: employment contracts, consultancy agreements, policies and procedures; disciplinary cases and grievances; reorganisations and redundancies; settlement agreements and negotiated exits; business transfers and TUPE; maternity rights and family-friendly legislation; holiday pay and Working Time Regulations issues; discrimination law and whistleblowing; Employment Tribunal claims; enforcement of post-termination restrictive covenants and confidential information; and data protection for employers.

Patrick frequently has articles and commentary published in HR publications and the national press and has appeared on local television and radio. He has lectured for the CIPD (the professional body for Human Resources and people development) and regularly leads training events.
