The Reed Group is elated to receive Management Today’s ‘Special Recognition Award: Response to Covid-19’ for the support we have provided to others throughout the pandemic.

We were awarded in recognition of the actions taken to help provide relief and support to those negatively impacted by the pandemic. And, for taking a lead in the economic fightback against the downturn caused by the virus.

To make a positive difference in a time of great stress, 11 initiatives were cultivated using ideas from a taskforce of co-members from across the group. The initiatives included:

  • Raising over £5.5m through the Big Give for Covid-19-related charity appeals

  • The launch of the Keep Britain Working campaign to help preserve jobs and redeploy those displaced from the worst-hit sectors

  • Extending unprecedented payment support to 1,500 recruitment consultancy clients

  • Reed.co.uk connecting people to NHS job openings – with no charge to the health service

  • Reed Talent Solutions took on the important role of recruiting lab testers

  • Reed Screening introduced the first Fast-Track Recruitment Service, ensuring key workers could be placed into roles within hours

  • Reed Wellbeing helped to deliver the NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme and connected health coaches to develop a lockdown health campaign

  • Reed Courses offered discounts to help people reskill

  • Reed in Partnership switched to remote service delivery, ensuring participants still had access to support in identifying local work opportunities

Management Today’s judging panel described Reed’s response as “impressive”, adding: “The pandemic creates serious challenges to the sector, to which Reed has risen impressively, serving a wide range of customers and stakeholders by creatively using and adapting its competences and offerings to meet unexpected needs.”

James Reed, Chairman and CEO of Reed, said: "We were just doing all that we could to respond to the pandemic in a useful and helpful way and to support individuals and organisations on the front line.

"I am pleased that the way our co-members responded to the crisis has been recognised in this way. It has been a total team effort."
