About the Company
Our client is a well-established engineering and manufacturing business based in Aberdeen, supplying high-quality products and solutions to customers across the energy, industrial and offshore sectors. Due to continued growth and an increasing workload, they are looking to appoint an organised and detail-focused Document Controller to join their team.
The Role
As Document Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring all project, technical and quality documentation is accurately recorded, maintained and distributed in line with company procedures and customer requirements.
Working closely with engineering, production, quality and project teams, you will be responsible for managing documentation throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring information is controlled, traceable and readily accessible.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain company document control systems and databases.
- Control the issue, distribution and revision of engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Ensure all project documentation is uploaded, tracked and archived accurately.
- Maintain document registers and monitor document status throughout projects.
- Liaise with customers and suppliers regarding document submissions and approvals.
- Support quality, manufacturing and engineering teams with document management activities.
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures, ISO standards and customer specifications.
- Coordinate Manufacturing Record Books (MRBs), quality dossiers and final project handover documentation.
- Carry out regular document audits to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Provide administrative support to project and engineering teams as required.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a Document Controller role, ideally within engineering, manufacturing, oil & gas, subsea, fabrication or another technical environment.
- Strong understanding of document control processes, procedures and best practices.
- Experience managing engineering drawings, technical specifications and quality documentation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Experience using electronic document management systems (EDMS).
- Excellent organisational skills and a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritise workload effectively and manage multiple deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Desirable
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Experience supporting project documentation within a regulated engineering environment.
- Familiarity with ERP, MRP or project management systems.
