CUSTOMER ACCOUNTS ADMINISTRATOR

- Salary: £27,000 per annum (£13.85 per hour equivalent)
- Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
This is an excellent temporary-to-permanent opportunity to join a long-established, family-owned foodservice wholesaler based in the Northeast. Following an initial temporary period, there is the potential for the role to become permanent for the right candidate. Established for over 100 years, the business is a leading supplier to the foodservice sector, supporting a diverse customer base across the UK. Please note: Whilst this role sits involves processing customer payments and account administration, it is primarily an administration-focused position. Previous credit control experience is not essential. We are keen to speak with candidates who have strong administration, customer service, data entry, and organisational skills and who are comfortable working with financial information.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Manage cash office duties, including counting and keying cash where required.
- Process bank statements and accurately allocate customer payments including cash, cheques, card payments and direct debits.
- Create daily and weekly reports, investigating and resolving unallocated payments.
- Set up new customer accounts and maintain existing customer records.
- Generate and issue customer documentation including direct debit letters, trade references and account packs.
- Produce and distribute sales reports for management teams.
- Respond to customer account queries via email and telephone in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain accurate customer records, diary updates and account information.
- Liaise with customers, drivers, sales teams and internal departments to resolve account-related queries.
- Process customer card payments, credit notes and direct debit administration tasks.
- Prepare supplier and loyalty scheme reports and invoices as required.
- Provide general administrative support to the wider Accounts team and assist with departmental cover when required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous administration, customer service, accounts administration or office support experience.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when processing information.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to follow processes.
- Confident using Microsoft Office applications and internal systems.
- Ability to prioritise workload, multitask and meet deadlines.
- Professional telephone manner and customer-focused approach.
- Experience within accounts, finance administration or payment processing would be advantageous but is not essential.
