About the Role
|Reed Recruitment recruiting on behalf of a friendly and professional medical practice in Cardiff for an experienced and customer-focused Medical Receptionist. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy healthcare environment and is passionate about providing outstanding patient care and administrative support.
As the first point of contact for patients, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice. You will be responsible for managing appointments, handling patient enquiries, maintaining accurate records, and signposting patients to appropriate healthcare services when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming patients and visitors in a professional and courteous manner
- Managing incoming telephone calls and responding to patient enquiries
- Booking, cancelling, and rescheduling appointments
- Registering new patients and updating patient records accurately
- Processing prescription requests in line with practice procedures
- Managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, including emails and letters
- Maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive patient information appropriately
- Signposting patients to the most appropriate healthcare professionals, services, or support organisations based on their needs
- Liaising with GPs, nurses, healthcare professionals, and external agencies
- Supporting the wider administration team with general office duties
- Ensuring the reception area remains welcoming, organised, and professional
- Assisting with the management of patient documentation and medical records
- Adhering to GDPR, confidentiality, and healthcare compliance requirements
About You
The successful candidate will:
- Have previous experience working as a Medical Receptionist, GP Receptionist, Healthcare Administrator, or within a healthcare setting
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Be confident dealing with patients in a professional, empathetic, and discreet manner
- Have strong organisational and administrative abilities
- Be comfortable working in a busy environment and managing multiple priorities
- Demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Be proficient in Microsoft Office and practice management systems
- Have an understanding of patient confidentiality and data protection requirements
