Yard Person / Delivery Driver

• Location: West Sussex
• Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
• Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 8:00am to 5:00pm and Friday 8:00am to 4:00pm
• Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
• Start Date: Immediate start available, subject to notice period

Join a growing business in the machinery and equipment sector as a Yard Person / Delivery Driver. This role offers a mix of delivery driving, yard duties, customer interaction, and general maintenance tasks, providing a dynamic work environment in West Sussex.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Drive company vehicles, including 3.5-tonne flatbed vehicles, to deliver and collect machinery, parts, and equipment.
• Safely load, unload, and secure machinery and equipment for transportation.
• Complete delivery documentation and maintain accurate records.
• Carry out vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks.
• Support the stores function by moving stock and assisting with goods-in processes.
• Undertake basic assembly work, including the assembly of products and equipment.
• Assist customers with collections, purchases, and machinery-related enquiries.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised yard environment.
• Carry out general site maintenance duties, including sweeping, painting, grounds maintenance, and other ad hoc tasks.
• Follow all health and safety procedures relating to equipment handling, transportation, and yard operations.
• Support colleagues across the business as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• A full UK driving licence.
• Previous experience in a delivery driving, yard operative, or similar hands-on role.
• Experience towing trailers.
• Good awareness of safe loading and unloading practices.
• A practical approach and willingness to undertake manual duties.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Good time management and organisational skills.
• Flexibility to support occasional early starts, late finishes, or longer-distance deliveries when required.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

• Forklift licence.
• Experience within agricultural, horticultural, construction, plant hire, or machinery-related industries.
• Good geographical knowledge of Sussex and surrounding areas.
