We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 1–aged child with complex Special Educational Needs.
The pupil is non-verbal and has an ASD diagnosis, requiring consistent, patient and skilled support throughout the school day. This is a rewarding role for someone who is passionate about making a genuine difference in a child’s development and wellbeing.
The Role
Providing tailored, 1:1 support within a specialist SEN school provision
Supporting communication, emotional regulation and engagement in learning activities
Working closely with teachers and SEN staff to follow individual support plans
Encouraging independence, confidence and positive behaviour
Supporting personal and sensory needs where required
About You
Experience supporting children or young people with complex additional needs is essential
Backgrounds in support work, children’s residential care, SEN settings or similar roles are very welcome
Calm, reliable and able to build trusting relationships
Patient, resilient and adaptable
Curriculum knowledge is not essential, as this role is centred on support rather than academic delivery
Requirements
Enhanced DBS certificate that is clear and up to date (or willingness to obtain one)
Previous experience with ASD and non-verbal communication is highly desirable
