Join our specialist SEN school as a Teaching Assistant, dedicated to supporting children and young people with complex emotional and communication needs. Our school in East Grinstead provides a therapeutic and nurturing environment for learners aged 7–19, focusing on holistic development including academic progress, personal growth, wellbeing, and social confidence.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Provide tailored support to students with social, emotional, and communication difficulties.
  • Work closely with teachers to deliver engaging and accessible learning experiences.
  • Help maintain a calm and structured classroom environment.
  • Assist with lesson preparation, resource organisation, and record-keeping.
  • Promote positive behaviour and respectful relationships.
  • Uphold safeguarding, health & safety, and school policies at all times.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or SEN.
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable).
  • GCSEs (Grade A–C or equivalent) in English and Maths.
  • A current driving licence.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional resilience.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and flexibly within a team.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and inclusive education.
