Semi Senior Accountant

Braintree, Essex Full Time | Permanent Salary: Up to £38,000

A reputable and growing accountancy practice based in Braintree is seeking a motivated Semi Senior Accountant to join its friendly and professional team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious practice professional looking to further develop their career within a supportive environment, working closely with a varied portfolio of clients across a range of industries.

The Role

As a Semi Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting senior team members and managing your own portfolio of clients, providing a high standard of service and building strong client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing year-end accounts for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies
  • Preparing management accounts
  • Completing VAT returns and bookkeeping reviews
  • Assisting with the preparation of personal and corporate tax returns
  • Liaising directly with clients and responding to day-to-day queries
  • Supporting clients with cloud accounting software, including Xero and QuickBooks
  • Assisting senior team members with ad hoc accounting projects
  • Ensuring work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines

About You

  • Previous experience within a UK accountancy practice
  • AAT qualified, ACCA/ACA part-qualified, or qualified by experience
  • Experience preparing accounts for a variety of business entities
  • Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, VAT and management accounts
  • Experience using software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, IRIS or CCH
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication and client-facing abilities
  • A positive and proactive approach to work
