A well-established and friendly accountancy practice based in Romford is looking to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper to join its growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys working with a varied client portfolio and is looking for a role that offers flexibility, responsibility and long-term career development within practice.

The Role

Working closely with a diverse range of clients, you will be responsible for providing accurate bookkeeping services and supporting the wider accounts team with day-to-day client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients
• Preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Performing bank, supplier and control account reconciliations
• Maintaining accurate financial records
• Assisting with management accounts preparation
• Supporting clients with cloud accounting software
• Liaising directly with clients to resolve queries and request information
• Assisting with month-end and year-end procedures
• Supporting the wider team with ad hoc accounting duties

About You

• Previous bookkeeping experience within a UK accountancy practice
• Strong knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping principles
• Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns
• Proficient with accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks and/or IRIS
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines
