A well-established and growing accountancy practice in Chelmsford is seeking an Accounts Semi Senior to join its friendly and professional team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual with previous practice experience who is looking to further develop their accounting career within a supportive environment, working with a diverse portfolio of clients across various sectors.

The Role

You will be responsible for assisting with the preparation of accounts and supporting a range of clients, from sole traders to limited companies, while developing your technical knowledge and client-facing skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing year-end accounts for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies
  • Assisting with the preparation of management accounts
  • Completing bookkeeping and VAT return work
  • Supporting the preparation of personal and corporate tax returns
  • Liaising directly with clients to obtain records and resolve queries
  • Assisting clients with cloud accounting software, including Xero and QuickBooks
  • Supporting senior team members with ad hoc accounting assignments
  • Ensuring work is completed accurately and within deadlines

About You

  • Previous experience working within a UK accountancy practice is essential
  • AAT qualified, ACCA/ACA part-qualified or qualified by experience
  • Experience preparing accounts for a variety of business entities
  • Strong bookkeeping and VAT knowledge
  • Good working knowledge of Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, IRIS or similar software
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach
  • Keen to continue learning and progressing within practice
