My client is seeking a Senior Paralegal to join their property transactions team. This role is crucial for assisting and supporting the business in handling a broad spectrum of non-contentious matters, primarily focusing on residential transactions. The Senior Paralegal will work closely with the Head of Legal Transactions and other senior members of the team.
Day-to-day of the role:
Manage a caseload of transactions from instruction through to completion, liaising with internal clients, stakeholders, leaseholders, solicitors, local authorities, and other third parties.
Draft and negotiate lease extensions, new leases, transfers, auction sales, easements, and various other deeds and licences.
Handle pre-emption rights, land registry applications, adverse possession claims, and unregistered titles.
Perform legal due diligence on matters such as interpretation of leases, deeds, and other property title documents, and analyse title structures.
Address queries and legal title or acquisition enquiries referred by other team members.
Participate in projects as required and update property management system data.
Design and develop procedures for streamlining and managing casework.
Assist with training and supervision of junior team members and engage in legal research using various resources.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Law Graduate or equivalent academic/professional qualifications with experience in property law/residential conveyancing.
Strong understanding of conveyancing procedures and relevant property law.
Ability to draft various legal documents and understand their implications.
High degree of integrity and reliability.
Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Good organisational skills and ability to work both independently and within a team.
Computer literate with intermediate knowledge of Word and Excel.
Effective communicator, both in writing and orally, with a high level of accuracy and grammatical proficiency in professional correspondence.
Desirable Skills:
Understanding of statutory lease extensions and collective enfranchisement claims.
Previous in-house experience, particularly within the property industry.
Experience with property acquisitions and property-related finance.
Interest in legal property-related research and a desire to acquire new skills.
