Job Title: Facilities Manager

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Facilities Manager to oversee the day-to-day management of our premises in Brighton. This role is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of all facilities, creating a productive and well-maintained working environment for staff and visitors.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, excellent organisational skills, and experience managing vendors, compliance, and building operations.
Key Responsibilities
Facilities Management
- Oversee the maintenance, safety, and cleanliness of the building and surrounding facilities
- Ensure all facilities are operating efficiently and meet business needs
- Conduct regular inspections and implement improvements where necessary
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies
- Maintain up-to-date records for fire safety, risk assessments, and building compliance
- Act as the main point of contact for health and safety matters
- Coordinate emergency procedures and drills
Contractor & Supplier Management
- Manage relationships with external contractors and service providers (e.g. cleaning, security, maintenance)
- Negotiate contracts and monitor service delivery against agreed SLAs
- Ensure all work carried out meets required standards and compliance regulations
Maintenance & Repairs
- Oversee planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes
- Coordinate reactive maintenance and repairs, ensuring timely resolution
- Manage building systems (e.g. HVAC, electrical, plumbing)
Budget & Cost Control
- Develop and manage facilities budgets
- Monitor expenditure and identify cost-saving opportunities
- Approve invoices and manage supplier payments
Space & Office Management
- Manage office layout, space planning, and workspace optimisation
- Support office moves, refurbishments, or fit-out projects
- Ensure facilities meet the needs of a growing workforce
Sustainability & Efficiency
- Implement initiatives to improve energy efficiency and sustainability
- Monitor utilities usage and recommend improvements
- Support environmental and sustainability goals
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Proven experience in a Facilities Manager or similar role
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance
- Experience managing contractors, suppliers, and service agreements
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage budgets and control costs
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Desirable
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. IOSH, NEBOSH, IWFM)
- Experience managing multi-site facilities
- Technical knowledge of building systems and maintenance processes
- Experience leading facilities projects or office relocations
