A well-established and growing accountancy practice based in Benfleet is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join its professional and friendly team.

The Role

As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of clients and delivering a broad range of accounting and tax services to businesses across a variety of sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Preparing and reviewing year-end accounts for Sole Traders, Partnerships and Limited Companies
• Preparing management accounts and financial reports
• Completing and reviewing VAT returns
• Preparing personal and corporation tax returns
• Managing client relationships and acting as a key point of contact
• Reviewing bookkeeping work and maintaining accurate financial records
• Assisting with tax planning and advisory projects
• Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
• Liaising directly with clients to provide advice and resolve queries
• Ensuring all work is completed accurately and within deadlines

About You

• Previous experience working within a UK accountancy practice is essential
• ACA, ACCA qualified
• Strong accounts preparation experience
• Good knowledge of VAT, bookkeeping and tax compliance
• Experience using cloud accounting software such as Xero, Sage and QuickBooks
• Familiarity with IRIS, CCH or similar practice software would be advantageous
• Excellent communication and client-facing skills
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Proactive approach with the ability to work independently
