A highly regarded and growing accountancy practice in Braintree is seeking an experienced Audit & Accounts Senior to join its team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated practice professional looking to work with a diverse portfolio of clients, take ownership of audit assignments and further develop their career within a supportive and progressive firm.

The Role

As an Audit & Accounts Senior, you will be responsible for leading audit assignments from planning through to completion, while also supporting a varied portfolio with accounts preparation and client advisory work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading and completing audit assignments for a range of clients across various sectors
  • Planning audit engagements and liaising directly with clients throughout the process
  • Preparing and reviewing statutory accounts for Limited Companies, Partnerships and Sole Traders
  • Supervising and mentoring junior members of staff
  • Reviewing accounting records and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards
  • Assisting with the preparation of management accounts and financial reports
  • Identifying areas for improvement and providing value-added advice to clients
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Supporting managers and partners with ad hoc projects and advisory work
  • Ensuring assignments are delivered to a high standard and within agreed deadlines

About You

  • Previous experience within a UK accountancy practice
  • ACA or ACCA qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience
  • Strong audit and accounts preparation experience
  • Confident managing client relationships and leading assignments
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members
  • Knowledge of accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, IRIS or CCH
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Proactive approach with strong attention to detail
