An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commodity Buyer to join a leading manufacturing organisation. Working within a dynamic Supply Chain team, you will take responsibility for managing key suppliers within a specialist commodity group, ensuring materials are delivered on time and supporting the continued success of production operations.
This role would suit a commercially minded procurement professional with experience in a manufacturing environment and a passion for supplier relationship management.
The Role
As Commodity Buyer, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of suppliers within one of the following areas:
- Engines & Mechanicals
- Composites
- Marine Components
You will ensure the timely procurement and delivery of materials while driving supplier performance and maintaining accurate purchasing data.
Key Responsibilities
- Raise purchase orders to support business demand.
- Ensure materials are delivered in line with required purchase order dates.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement improvements where required.
- Maintain supplier information and purchasing records within the ERP system.
- Keep purchase order delivery dates accurate and up to date within SAP.
- Work closely with internal teams to support production and operational requirements.
- Undertake additional duties as required by senior management.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous purchasing, buying or procurement experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with ERP systems, ideally SAP.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Knowledge of supplier management and performance monitoring.
- Experience within one or more of the following commodity groups:
- Engines & Mechanicals
- Composites
- Marine Components
- The ability to read and understand technical drawings and technical data.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive and self-motivated approach to work.
