Salary: £17-18.50 per hour
Hours: 31.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 15:30
Pay Scale: Inner London Pay Scale 6, point 16 to 20 (£36,423 to £38,637 per annum pro rata)
Join our dedicated team at a specialist college providing educational opportunities to students aged 19-25 with moderate, severe, and profound and multiple learning difficulties. We are seeking a Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting students with autism and complex needs.
Day-to-day of the role:
Support the delivery of educational programs tailored to students with learning difficulties, including those with physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and autism.
Utilize Makaton signing and symbols for effective communication with students.
Assist in the implementation of individual Education Healthcare Plans.
Provide personal care and support, including physiotherapy programs and toileting as needed.
Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to enhance student learning and well-being.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
NVQ3 in a relevant education, health, or social care field.
Minimum of two years' experience working in a specialist college or special school.
Proficient in using Makaton and familiar with TEACCH and sensory approaches.
Experience working with students who display challenging behaviour and those with disabilities/SLD/ASD/PMLD.
Strong understanding of the needs of students with learning difficulties and autism.
Ability to work under own initiative and adapt to changing situations.
Physically fit to meet the demands of the role, including hoisting pupils and carrying out physiotherapy programs.
