Senior Technical Project Manager – Live Events (Lighting-Focused)
Location: Borehamwood (≈25 mins from Central London) Salary: £55,000 – £65,000 (DOE) Hours: Flexible – aligned with live project schedules Reporting to: Head of Projects
The Role
You’re not just managing projects — you’re owning the technical delivery.
We’re looking for a Senior Technical Project Manager who has come up through live events and is still comfortable being hands-on when it matters. This role is ideal for someone with a strong lighting background who can confidently pull together audio, video, and lighting into one cohesive delivery.
You’ll take the lead on high-profile, technically complex live events, acting as the go-to technical authority from initial brief through to show call.
What You’ll Be Doing
Owning projects end-to-end — from concept and design through to live delivery
Acting as the senior technical lead onsite, making real-time decisions under pressure
Designing full technical solutions — specifying exact kit (brands/models) across lighting, audio, and video
Leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary crews and departments
Translating creative ideas into practical, deliverable technical plans
Managing budgets, logistics, schedules, and client expectations
Troubleshooting issues live — without needing to escalate to siloed specialists
Mentoring junior team members and raising technical standards across projects
What We’re Looking For
Proven experience (6+ years) delivering live events in a technical, client-facing role
A strong lighting background with solid working knowledge of audio and video systems
Someone who is hands-on, credible, and respected onsite — not just desk-based
Experience leading crews and running complex shows under pressure
Confident specifying and building full technical solutions from scratch
Proficiency in AutoCAD and technical documentation
Strong commercial awareness — able to quote, budget, and manage resources effectively
A natural problem-solver who thrives in fast-paced live environments
Full UK driving licence (preferred)
Why This Role Stands Out
Work on high-end, technically ambitious live events
Join a team where technical expertise is valued, not siloed
Real ownership — you won’t be boxed into one discipline
A culture that blends creative ambition with technical excellence
What’s On Offer
£55,000 – £65,000 salary (DOE)
30 days holiday (including bank holidays)
Private healthcare & dental cover
Enhanced sick pay
Pension + long-service rewards
Ongoing training and development
Supportive, collaborative team delivering standout projects
The Bottom Line
If you’re a technically strong live events professional who still enjoys being close to the kit, leading from the front, and solving real-world problems onsite, this is a role where you can step up and take full ownership.
