We are seeking an experienced, commercially minded Senior Client Accountant to join a growing team.

The Role
This is a client-facing position managing a portfolio of SME clients. You will deliver accounting, tax, and advisory services, work closely with leadership, and support both clients and junior team members. The role suits someone who enjoys working directly with business owners and contributing to a modern, growth-focused practice.

Key Responsibilities

Client Management & Advisory

  • Manage and build relationships with SME clients
  • Provide financial insights, business advice, and support
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
  • Communicate with HMRC, banks, and other stakeholders

Accounts & Tax

  • Prepare/review statutory accounts (FRS 102/105)
  • Prepare corporation tax returns and management accounts
  • Review VAT and ensure compliance and deadlines are met

Team Support

  • Review junior team work and provide mentoring
  • Assist with workflow, training, and development

Systems & Processes

  • Use cloud tools such as Xero and Dext
  • Improve systems, processes, and efficiencies

Compliance

  • Support Companies House filings and onboarding processes
  • Ensure GDPR and regulatory compliance

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent experience)
  • Practice experience with SME clients
  • Strong knowledge of accounts, tax, and VAT
  • Experience with Xero and cloud systems
  • Excellent communication and organisation skills

Desirable

  • Experience with Dext, Engager, TaxCalc, or similar
  • Team supervision or mentoring experience
  • Exposure to advisory and forecasting work
