School Receptionist (Maternity Cover)

Location: Morden
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm
Contract: Maternity Cover until June/July 2027
Pay Rate: £14.00 per hour PAYE or £17.74 per hour Umbrella
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role

We are currently seeking an experienced and professional School Receptionist to join a busy school in Morden on a maternity cover contract through to June/July 2027. This is a front-facing role requiring excellent communication and organisational skills, providing a welcoming and efficient service to pupils, parents, staff, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Managing the school's reception area and acting as the first point of contact for visitors.
• Answering and directing incoming telephone calls and emails.
• Welcoming parents, visitors, contractors, and external agencies.
• Maintaining visitor records and ensuring safeguarding procedures are followed.
• Providing administrative support to the wider school team.
• Managing incoming and outgoing post.
• Updating and maintaining school records and databases.
• Assisting with pupil attendance and general administrative tasks.
• Supporting staff with ad hoc administrative duties as required.

Requirements

• Previous reception or administrative experience, ideally within a school or educational setting.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Confident using Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to work independently and manage a busy workload.
• Professional and friendly approach.

Compliance

A valid Enhanced DBS check is required for this position. Candidates without a current DBS may still apply but will be required to complete the necessary checks before starting.
