The Opportunity

An established and forward-thinking accountancy practice is seeking an management accountant to join their growing team.

This role is ideal for an all-rounder with strong practice experience who enjoys working across a variety of accounting responsibilities. The firm operates a collaborative culture and avoids rigid hierarchical labels, instead valuing capability, accountability, and teamwork.

There is potential for this role to be offered on a part-time basis, however due to the highly collaborative nature of the team, the position is office-based.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of management accounts for a portfolio of clients using cloud-based software (including Xero and QuickBooks)
  • Statutory accounts preparation
  • Completion of VAT returns and CIS submissions
  • Supporting a portfolio of SME clients (typically £1m+ turnover)
  • Liaising with colleagues across accounts, tax, and audit
  • Delivering accurate work to deadline while managing multiple client requirements

Candidate Profile

  • AAT qualified (MAAT) or nearing completion
  • Proven experience within an accountancy practice environment
  • Able to prepare management accounts independently
  • Broader experience beyond pure bookkeeping
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage workloads effectively
  • Collaborative approach with good communication skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail

Systems & Software

Exposure to or experience with the following is advantageous:

  • Integrated accounts production and tax software
  • Cloud accounting platforms (Xero preferred, plus others such as QuickBooks, Sage, FreeAgent)
  • Payroll and P11D systems
  • Audit software and automation tools
  • Use of AI tools to enhance productivity and communication
