Licensing Team Leader

  • Job Type: Hybrid (2 days in office, 3 days at home)
  • Hours: 37 hours per week, 9am – 5pm
  • Salary: £27.34 - £29.10 per hour

My client is seeking an experienced Licensing Team Leader to join their small but busy team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing licensing applications within a local authority setting. This role requires a candidate with a strong background in licensing administration, particularly in areas such as Taxi Licensing, Alcohol Licensing, and other regulatory sectors. The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage a varied workload, meet statutory deadlines, and communicate effectively across all levels and must have previously worked in a local authority setting.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Oversee and manage two email licensing inboxes.
  • Process various licensing applications and collate necessary information.
  • Arrange and facilitate committee meetings and conduct checks on licensing applications.
  • Address and resolve complaints related to licensing applications.
  • Maintain accurate and appropriate notes and records.
  • Manage a small team, ensuring efficient workflow and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level or possess extensive experience in licensing administration/enforcement or other regulatory roles.
  • Significant experience in Licensing, specifically including Taxi Licensing and Alcohol Licensing. Knowledge of Sexual Entertainment Venues, Pavement Licensing, Animal Activities, and Gambling is beneficial.
  • Previous experience in a local authority licensing setting is essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with the public, peers, and the business community.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and familiarity with local authority systems.
  • Good customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to be flexible and adaptable.
