Location: Housing Operations, Blackley, Manchester, M9 6NZ
Pay Rate: £15.43 per hour PAYE
Contract: Full Time, Temporary (2 - 3 Months)
Driving Licence Required

 

Manchester City Council are looking for a dedicated and reliable Estates Services Operative to join their Housing Operations team based in Blackley, Manchester. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to creating cleaner, safer, and more attractive neighbourhoods for local residents while working as part of a supportive and community-focused team.

As an Estates Services Operative, you will provide a high-quality scheduled and reactive estates service across Manchester City Council housing properties. You will play a key role in maintaining communal areas, improving outdoor environments, and supporting the delivery of excellent housing services.

This role requires a hands-on approach, strong customer focus, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Day to day of the role:

  • Deliver high-quality janitorial services to communal areas within housing properties managed by Manchester City Council Housing Services.
  • Carry out gardening, grounds maintenance, and environmental improvement works across housing stock.
  • Remove fly-tipped waste, discarded materials, and bulky household items safely and efficiently.
  • Undertake a range of planned and reactive maintenance and environmental tasks as required.
  • Operate and maintain mechanical equipment safely and effectively.
  • Respond courteously to enquiries from residents and members of the public, providing information and assistance where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies to maintain high environmental standards.
  • Report incidents, hazards, or circumstances that may impact resident wellbeing or neighbourhood quality.
  • Ensure all duties are carried out in accordance with Health & Safety legislation, policies, and procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Confident and capable of driving a Ford Transit Tipper-sized vehicle
  • Previous experience in grounds maintenance, environmental services, estates services, janitorial work, or a similar operational role
  • Ability to undertake physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety practices
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work flexibly and as part of a team
