About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and people-focused HR Adviser to join our HR Advisory Team. In this role, you will work closely with HR Partners to deliver a high-quality, professional HR service across a defined area of the University, supporting managers and employees throughout the full employee lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
Act as the first point of contact for managers and employees on a wide range of HR matters
Provide practical, business-focused HR advice across employee relations, including disciplinary, grievance, absence, and performance issues
Support managers with people management responsibilities, fostering effective and consistent practices
Build strong working relationships and act as a trusted HR partner within your assigned areas
Advise on recruitment, selection, and onboarding processes to attract and retain high-quality staff
Support key HR processes such as probation management, flexible working, maternity and parental leave, and fixed-term contract reviews
Work collaboratively with HR Services, Payroll, and Occupational Health to ensure efficient delivery of HR operations
Contribute to HR projects and initiatives aligned to the HR Strategy
Deliver HR-related learning sessions alongside People Development colleagues
We are looking for a confident and motivated HR professional who can demonstrate:
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to provide clear, practical HR advice
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build credibility and challenge constructively
Experience managing or supporting employee relations cases
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
A commitment to delivering high-quality, confidential HR services
The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
A proactive, solutions-focused approach
Essential Criteria
Degree or equivalent experience
CIPD Level 5 (or working towards) or equivalent knowledge
Demonstrable experience in a HR advisory or similar people-focused role
