Farm Manager – Barham, Kent
💰 £40,000 | 🕒 37.5 hours per week

Make a real difference through land-based learning.

Are you passionate about animal welfare and outdoor education? We’re looking for an experienced Farm Manager to run our educational farm and support young people to build confidence, skills, and independence through hands-on learning.

The Role

You’ll lead the day-to-day running of the farm, creating a safe, engaging environment that supports wellbeing and vocational programmes. This is a practical, outdoor role combining animal care, farm management, and student support.

Year-round role with some evenings, weekends, and events.

What You’ll Do

🐐 Animal Care

  • Daily care of goats, alpacas, horses, rabbits, and ducks
  • Maintain high welfare standards and health records
  • Coordinate vet care and treatments

🚜 Farm Operations

  • Manage feeding, grazing, stables, and maintenance
  • Oversee fencing, equipment, and pasture
  • Ensure compliance with safety and welfare standards

🌱 Student Support

  • Support farm-based learning activities
  • Encourage safe, positive engagement with animals

⚠️ Health & Safety

  • Carry out risk assessments
  • Ensure safe working and handling practices

📋 Admin & Planning

  • Manage supplies, records, and stock
  • Liaise with vets and suppliers

🌾 Development

  • Support ongoing improvement of the farm and learning spaces

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Farm or smallholding experience (multi-species)
  • Strong animal welfare knowledge
  • Relevant land-based qualification
  • Organised, self-motivated, and reliable
  • Positive approach to working with young people
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

  • Experience with horses, goats, or alpacas
  • Education or youth work experience
  • First aid
