I’m currently working with a well-established firm who are looking to appoint a Paralegal / Legal Assistant into their Private Family Law department based in Birmingham.
This is a great opportunity for a candidate with prior family law experience to join a busy and supportive team, with strong exposure to private and (ideally) public law matters.
The Opportunity
The successful candidate will support fee earners across a full caseload of family matters, including:
Divorce and matrimonial work
Financial remedies
Child arrangements
Consent orders
Pre- and post-nuptial agreements
Key Responsibilities
Providing comprehensive legal support to solicitors and fee earners
Drafting legal documents, including witness and position statements
Managing files and maintaining accurate records on the case management system (PCMS)
Preparing court bundles and correspondence
Liaising with clients, counsel, experts, and external agencies
Managing diaries and key deadlines
Working with Legal Aid (LAA) portals and applications
My client is looking for:
Previous experience within Family Law
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Confident IT skills, including Microsoft Office and case management systems
Someone comfortable handling sensitive matters and working with vulnerable clients
Package & Benefits
Salary: £25,000 – £28,000 (dependent on experience)
25 days holiday + Bank Holidays
Additional 1 day annual leave per year of service (up to 30 days)
Birthday day off (post-probation)
