Location: Housing Operations, Blackley, Manchester, M9 6NZ
Pay Rate: £15.93 per hour (PAYE)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 15:30pm
Duration: Full-time temporary contract for approximately 2 – 3 months

Manchester City Council are looking for two motivated and hardworking Estates Services Operatives to join the Housing Operations team based in Blackley. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in supporting the ongoing regeneration and improvement of the Collyhurst estate.

Working as part of a larger estate services team, you will help maintain high environmental and grounds maintenance standards across the estate during a period of significant construction and demolition activity. You will be responsible for ensuring communal outdoor areas remain safe, clean, and presentable for residents.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Carry out grounds maintenance and upkeep of landscaped areas.
• Remove litter, debris, and fly-tipped waste from estate areas.
• Conduct estate inspections and identify environmental issues.
• Support health and safety requirements around construction and demolition zones.
• Maintain a visible presence across the estate and respond to environmental concerns.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure a high standard of service delivery for residents.
• Previous experience in grounds maintenance, estate services, environmental services, or a similar outdoor role is desirable.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Good awareness of health and safety practices.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to delivering excellent service.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

This is a hands-on, physically demanding role. Successful candidates must be physically fit and capable of:

• Lifting and moving heavy items safely.
• Carrying out manual labour throughout the working day.
• Walking significant distances across estate areas.
• Working outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions.
