ER Advisor

We are seeking an ER Advisor to serve as a critical first point of contact and provide expert advice for stakeholders, particularly managers, across Gas Distribution in the UK. This role involves managing Case Management activities and ensuring compliance with organisational policies such as Disciplinary, Code of Employee Conduct, Grievance, PIP, DBH, Drugs and Alcohol, and Sickness Absence. The ER Advisor will also oversee robust investigations related to potential cases of gross misconduct and ensure timely progression of cases to hearings.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Provide coordinated and comprehensive administrative support to the ER & Cases Manager on a range of detailed, complex, and confidential ER-related issues.
- Prepare papers, reports, and presentation materials as directed by the ER & Cases Manager.
- Assist in dedicated ER-related projects under the direction of the ER & Cases Manager to support the wider ER ambition.
- Proactively maintain, review, and update records, files, and minutes, ensuring they are stored in the ER Shared area.
- Take ownership of arranging and maintaining meeting schedules, including agendas, materials, dates, and venues, ensuring accurate records of meetings are maintained.
- Track outputs from meetings and ensure follow-through on actions.
- Maintain progress of the relevant ER Plan, track changes, summarise regular progress updates, and distribute the information as appropriate.
- Review and monitor ER-related data trends.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- CIPD qualification is desired.
- Experience operating as an Advisor for dispute-related activity or within an HR Operational role.
- Thorough understanding and technical application of the organisation’s HR policies and procedures.
- Experience and confidence in providing detailed policy advice to stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge of employment legislation and its impact on case management and employees.
- Broad understanding of external good practices, e.g., ACAS requirements.
- Experience in interviewing question design/technique and report writing.
- Ability to quickly build relationships and manage stakeholders at all levels; able to influence colleagues to prioritise timely completion of case management processes or promptly escalate for guidance.
- Experience in applying the principles of previous cases to future cases to ensure appropriate advice around consistency and fairness.
