Contract -Senior Software Engineer (Frontend Focus) - React / Next.js

£550 per day | Outside IR35

We're working with a client delivering a major digital transformation programme and are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join their high-performing Agile team.

This is a hands-on engineering role with a strong focus on modern frontend development, working on customer-facing applications built with React and Next.js.

You'll be involved in technical delivery from day one, while also working closely with stakeholders, supporting customer engagements, and coaching less experienced developers across the team. The role is predominantly frontend-focused (around 75%), making it ideal for someone who enjoys building intuitive user experiences while influencing technical direction and best practice.

 Skills

• Strong commercial experience developing applications with React and Next.js
• Extensive experience with TypeScript and modern JavaScript
• Proven experience working as a Senior Frontend Engineer or Senior Software Engineer
• Strong understanding of frontend architecture, performance optimisation and modern development practices
• Experience integrating applications with APIs and backend services
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage confidently with customers and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience mentoring, coaching and supporting junior engineers
• Strong understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and collaborative development practices
• Ability to contribute to technical discussions, code reviews and engineering best practice

Desirable Skills

• Experience working within a .NET environment
• Azure cloud experience
• Experience delivering large-scale digital products or transformation programmes
• Full software development lifecycle experience

Contract: Initial 3 months
Location: Home-based with occasional travel to Newcastle upon Tyne when required
Start: ASAP
Rate: £550 per day
IR35: Outside IR35
