Cleansing Operative

Location: Sheffield City Council, Moor Market, Sheffield (with opportunities across various city-wide locations)
Pay Rate: £13.45 per hour (PAYE)
Contract: Full-Time, 37 Hours Per Week, Temporary Contract | 2 - 3 Months
Working Hours: 8:00am - 16:00pm

Sheffield City Council are currently looking for a Cleansing Operative to support the delivery of high-quality cleaning services across a range of sites throughout Sheffield. The primary location for this role will be The Moor Market, although there are opportunities available at various Council buildings across the city.

Day-to-day of the role:

As a Cleansing Operative, you will play a vital role in ensuring Council facilities are maintained to the highest standards. Duties will include:

• Vacuuming, mopping, sweeping and dusting
• Cleaning and sanitising surfaces, communal areas and workstations to scheduled standards
• Emptying bins and disposing of waste appropriately
• Restocking consumables such as toilet paper, soap and hand towels
• Reporting maintenance issues, defects and health & safety concerns
• Using IT systems and devices to record and report activities, tasks and issues
• Undertaking non-technical building monitoring activities
• Supporting cleaning and maintenance of public areas within the Moor Market and other Council facilities
• Working as part of a team to deliver excellent cleaning standards and customer service

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Previous cleaning experience in a commercial, public sector or similar environment
• Knowledge of cleaning equipment, products and best practices
• An understanding of Health & Safety procedures and safe working practices
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards
• Basic IT skills to record and report activities where required
• A reliable, flexible and positive approach to work
