You'll also benefit from genuine flexibility, with the expectation of spending around 2-3 days per week in the Colchester office, alongside customer visits, field-based business development activity and home working.

The Role

As Business Development Manager, you'll be responsible for identifying, developing and winning new Ocean Freight business while promoting the wider range of logistics services available.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Generating new business opportunities across Ocean Freight services
  • Building relationships with importers, exporters and logistics decision-makers
  • Attending customer meetings and networking events
  • Preparing quotations and commercial proposals
  • Managing and developing a healthy sales pipeline
  • Achieving revenue and gross profit targets
  • Working closely with operational teams to ensure excellent service delivery
  • Identifying opportunities to introduce additional logistics solutions

About You

We're looking for a proven freight forwarding sales professional with a strong commercial mindset and a passion for developing new business.

Requirements

  • Previous Business Development or Sales experience within Freight Forwarding
  • Strong Ocean Freight knowledge
  • Track record of winning new business
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Commercially driven and target focused
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Experience selling multimodal freight solutions
  • Existing industry network and customer contacts
  • Knowledge of customs clearance, warehousing or transport services
