Who is it for?
Foundations in Accountancy (FIA) qualifications are suitable for a wide range of people. They’re ideal if you are new to finance or aiming to switch to finance. You could also be already working in finance but have no formal qualifications. Or you might want to gain a better understanding of how finance works in order to progress your career.
FIA is the entry point to a world of opportunity, whether you want to pursue higher qualifications in finance or simply boost your employability and mobility by learning the universal language of business.

To pass ACCA Level 3 Diploma in Financial and Management Accounting, you’ll need to successfully complete the below units, giving you the knowledge and skills you need to excel in finance.
Learning outcomes:
Understand the underlying principles and concepts relating to Maintaining Financial Records.
Gain technical proficiency in the use of double-entry accounting techniques including the preparation of basic financial statements.
Learn how to prepare journals and ledger accounts, record transactions and events and reconcile control accounts and cashbooks.
Learning outcomes:
Develop knowledge and understanding of how to prepare, process and present basic cost information to support management in planning and decision-making in a variety of business contexts.
Explain the role of costing within the organisation and how costs are classified.
Use management accounting techniques to make and support decision-making.
Learning outcomes:
Learn about the legal and professional obligations and responsibilities of accountants, including the professional and ethical principles and values which apply to accountancy.
Understand and demonstrate what it means to act professionally and ethically in your work.

Completing this ACCA Level 3 Diploma course typically takes 6 months.
There are no minimum entry requirements for Foundations in Accountancy. However, we recommend you start at Level 2 if you have no formal qualifications, especially if it’s been a while since you completed any studies. FIA begins at GCSE level (Level 2), or equivalent, and progresses up to the equivalent of the first year of a bachelor's degree (Level 4).
The FIA qualifications are in English language so you will require a reasonable competency in written English. And, because we focus on business and finance, there is also an expectation of numeracy - the ability to work with numbers.
This course is taught in-person at our Liverpool training centre.

Foundations in Accountancy is a group of qualifications that build progressively:

Each of these qualifications requires you to take a number of exams and to complete our professionalism and ethics module, Foundations in Professionalism. You can take this online module at any time and only need to sit it once. So, for example, if you completed the Foundations in Professionalism module while studying for the ACCA Diploma in Financial and Management Accounting (RQF Level 2), you won’t need to take it again when completing any further FIA qualifications.
