Course details

  • RQF level 3 (SCQF level 6 in Scotland)

  • 18-hour three-day course

  • Practical and written assessment

Ensure your business is providing adequate and appropriate first aid cover for your employees by enrolling willing staff on this accredited three-day course featuring both practical and written assessments.

Teach your staff to deal with emergency situations with confidence

To meet the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982, employers must provide a safe and healthy environment in which to work. This includes providing the facilities and personnel to ensure employees receive immediate attention if they are injured or taken ill at work.

If an assessment of first-aid needs shows that trained first aiders are required at your business, this comprehensive course will cover a range of subjects and culminate in participants being awarded a qualification to the highest standard of first aid.

Incorporating a minimum of 18 hours spread over three days, this comprehensive course will provide practical information on:

  • How to assess the situation swiftly and effectively

  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty

  • Fractures and spinal injuries

  • Resuscitation and AED awareness

  • Control of bleeding

  • Shock (including Anaphylaxis)

  • Heart attacks

  • Head injuries

  • Sprains and strains

  • Poisoning

  • Bandaging

  • Choking

  • Eye injuries

  • Chest injuries

  • Asthma

  • Diabetes

  • Stroke

  • Burns

  • Epilepsy

The course, which should ideally be run over consecutive days but can be spread out within 10 weeks, will also incorporate the legalities, responsibilities and reporting of emergency situations.

This in-house course can accommodate a maximum of 12 students. A three-year certificate will be awarded to all successful participants, subject to assessment.
