Course details

  • RQF level 3 (SCQF level 6 in Scotland)

  • Six-hour, one-day course

  • Practical assessment

This six-hour, one-day training course will ensure your business is able to provide emergency first aid cover should one of your employees fall ill in the workplace.

Provide your employees with a safe and healthy environment.

The Emergency First Aid at Work training course is designed to teach participating employees the fundamentals of first aid, and ensure that your business meets the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982.

Providing your employees with a safe and healthy environment in which to work doesn’t just mean providing adequate facilities. It also means having people on hand who are qualified to help should a member of staff be injured or become ill while at work.

If your business is in need of first-aiders, this in-depth course will cover the key areas required for providing emergency treatment.

Topics covered include:

• Assessment of the situation
• Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
• Basic hygiene in First Aid
• Resuscitation and AED awareness
• Anatomy
• Minor injuries
• Bleeding control
• Burns
• Choking
• Epilepsy
• Shock

The course will also cover the responsibilities and reporting protocols of emergency situations as part of practical and theoretical activities that will last a total of six hours. Ideally this should be run over one day, but there is the flexibility to spread the course within a four-week period should it be preferred.

A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated, and a three-year certificate will be awarded to all successful participants following assessment. It is recommended that students undergo a three-hour refresher course on an annual basis.
