Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist SEND provision seeking a resilient, proactive and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team. This is an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of pupils who require additional support to achieve both academically and emotionally.

The school supports students who have SEMH needs and associated challenging behaviours. Many pupils may have experienced barriers to learning and require strong, consistent role models who can build positive relationships and help them engage in education.

The Role

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with students.
  • Support pupils to regulate emotions and manage behaviours effectively.
  • Work closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Assist in delivering personalised learning programmes.
  • Promote engagement, attendance, confidence and positive outcomes.
  • Help create a safe, structured and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs.
  • Can remain calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations.
  • Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Are passionate about supporting vulnerable young people.
  • Have experience in education, youth work, care, mentoring, coaching, support work or similar settings.
  • Hold a relevant TA qualification (desirable but not essential).
