Quality Manager - Chemical Manufacturing

We are seeking an experienced Quality Manager to join a well-established chemical and coatings manufacturer. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of the site's Quality Management System and drive continuous improvement across the business. It is an excellent chance for a quality professional with a background in chemical or process manufacturing to maintain product quality, support operational excellence, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage and continuously improve the Quality Management System in line with ISO 9001.
  • Ensure product quality, batch integrity, traceability, and document control across the site.
  • Lead customer, supplier, and certification audits.
  • Investigate non-conformances and quality issues, implementing effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Support change management activities impacting product quality and compliance.
  • Monitor quality performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Work closely with production, technical, and operational teams to promote quality excellence.
  • Maintain customer confidence through robust quality standards and compliance.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a Quality Manager, QA Manager, or similar quality leadership position.
  • Strong experience managing and developing ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Background within chemical manufacturing, coatings, adhesives, polymers, resins, or another regulated process manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading internal, supplier, customer, and certification audits.
  • Strong understanding of CAPA, root cause analysis, non-conformances, and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Experience:

  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and/or ISO 45001.
  • Understanding of REACH, CLP, and COSHH requirements.
  • Previous responsibility for Health, Safety, or Environmental activities.
  • Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related discipline.
  • Lead Auditor qualification.
