I am currently working with a wonderful school based in the A6 corridor. The school are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child in our Year 3/4 class who will be joining us in September.
The successful candidate will work closely with a pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The child is currently awaiting diagnosis for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD and presents with significant social communication, sensory processing, and mental health needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the child’s individual needs
Support the pupil’s social, emotional and mental health development
Adapt learning activities to ensure access to the KS2 curriculum
Implement strategies to support sensory regulation and communication
Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCo, and external professionals
Build a trusting and supportive relationship with the child and their family
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Proven experience working with children with ASD, ADHD, or similar needs
A strong understanding of social communication and sensory needs
Knowledge of the Key Stage 2 curriculum
Patience, empathy, and excellent behaviour management skills
The ability to remain calm, flexible, and proactive in a school environment
A commitment to inclusive education and supporting every child to thrive
Desirable:
Experience supporting pupils with EHCPs
Training in areas such as sensory integration, Team Teach, or emotional regulation strategies
