Join our team as an Operational Planner and play a critical role in shaping service delivery. This position involves translating demand, capacity, and operational constraints into effective plans that protect SLAs, optimise resources, and support longer-term operational performance. You will coordinate, schedule, and monitor work orders to ensure efficient workflow across operational teams, acting as a key link between engineers, field operations, and internal stakeholders.
Day-to-day of the role:
Allocate and schedule daily work orders, ensuring tasks are assigned accurately based on priority, complexity, and resource availability.
Review and balance workload volumes, making informed decisions to optimise productivity.
Coordinate with operational teams to ensure required labour, time, and resources are correctly aligned to service demands.
Monitor engineer availability and proactively identify patterns in delays, incomplete works, or capacity gaps.
Maintain effective communication with engineers, field operations managers (FOMs), and internal teams to share updates, resolve conflicts, and clarify priorities.
Track engineer progress throughout the day, conducting agreed checkpoints and updating systems accordingly.
Maintain up-to-date records, notes, and status updates in Business Central (BC).
Actively identify opportunities to improve planning processes, workflows, and system usage.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
Experience in workload planning in high-volume operational environments.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and maintain performance under pressure.
Strong planning, organisation, and time-management capabilities.
Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach.
Clear, confident, and effective communication skills across all levels.
System competence with CRM, scheduling, or workforce management tools.
High level of attention to detail.
Desirable: Relevant planning, operations, logistics, or project coordination qualification.
