The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Management Accountant to join a large, complex organisation on a 6-month interim assignment. This role based in Huntingdon can pay £240-£250 per day on a PAYE basis and offers hybrid working.

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified finance professional who can quickly add value within a fast-paced environment. Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality management information, supporting budgeting and forecasting processes, and providing commercial financial insight to drive business performance.

The successful candidate will be a proactive self-starter, capable of managing multiple priorities and building strong relationships across the organisation from day one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver accurate monthly management accounts within agreed deadlines.
  • Produce detailed variance analysis and insightful commentary for senior leadership teams.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Partner with operational and commercial stakeholders to provide financial guidance and challenge.
  • Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities to improve efficiency and cost control.
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, policies, and governance requirements.
  • Assist with business case preparation and investment analysis.
  • Support year-end activities and audit requirements as required.
  • Drive continuous improvement across financial processes and reporting.
  • Provide support and guidance to junior finance team members where appropriate.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in a Senior Management Accountant or similar role.
  • Strong management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting experience.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and business partnering skills.
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong financial systems knowledge.
  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate findings clearly.
  • Experience working in a large, fast-paced organisation.
  • Ability to hit the ground running and deliver results from the outset.

Desirable

  • Experience within regulated, utilities, infrastructure, engineering, or large corporate environments.
  • Exposure to ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or similar.
  • Previous experience within interim or contract assignments.
