Interim Chief People Officer – Reward Specialism | 3 Month Assignment 

Location: Oxford, Hybrid (circa 3 days onsite)
Contract: 3-Month FTC (potential to extend)
Working Pattern: Full-time or part-time considered
Salary: Market rate

We’re partnering with an Oxford based organisation seeking to appoint an Interim Chief People Officer on an initial 3-month FTC. This is a senior, highly visible role, embedded within the business and working closely with the Board during a critical period.

The Role

This is a broad CPO-level position with a particular emphasis on Compensation & Benefits, including executive and Board-level remuneration.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Acting as a trusted adviser to the Board, supporting on people strategy and governance
  • Leading Compensation & Benefits, with a strong focus on executive reward.
  • Partnering with a diverse, international stakeholder group across leadership and governance functions
  • Providing clear, commercially sound guidance in a complex and evolving environment
  • Navigating legacy challenges, including employee relations sensitivities
  • Bringing structure, clarity, and direction as an embedded interim leader

This role requires someone who can quickly establish credibility, ask the right questions, and deliver well-judged, pragmatic solutions.

About You

We’re looking for an experienced CPO / HR Director-level professional who:

  • Is immediately available or available at short notice
  • Has deep expertise in Compensation & Benefits, particularly at executive and Board level
  • Is comfortable operating in challenging, fast-paced or ambiguous environments
  • Brings strong stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior and Board level
  • Combines strategic thinking with a hands-on, pragmatic approach
  • Has experience in interim or transformation settings (preferred)
  • Ideally has exposure to biotech, pharma, or regulated sectors
