About the Role

As an Energy Support Officer, you will provide practical advice, guidance, and support to residents experiencing fuel poverty or difficulties managing their household energy costs. You will undertake home visits, carry out energy assessments, assist with accessing energy-saving measures, and help households improve their overall wellbeing.

You will also support tenants living in the Council housing by providing advice on damp and mould prevention and working closely with internal teams to ensure more complex issues are resolved.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out home energy efficiency assessments and identify opportunities for energy-saving improvements.
  • Provide advice and guidance on reducing energy consumption and household bills.
  • Support residents in accessing grants, schemes, and other sources of assistance.
  • Liaise with energy suppliers on behalf of residents when appropriate.
  • Undertake visits and follow-up appointments with residents across the borough.
  • Maintain accurate case records, reports, and performance information.
  • Assess damp and mould issues and provide practical advice to tenants.
  • Work collaboratively with housing teams and external partner agencies.
  • Promote energy support services through community events, publicity campaigns, and outreach activities.
  • Ensure customer enquiries are handled professionally and within agreed timescales.
  • Contribute to service performance targets and continuous improvement initiatives.
