Skills & Experience Required Essential: Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related discipline. Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a relevant industrial environment. Experience within aerospace, oil & gas, or power generation sectors. Strong understanding of physical metallurgy, particularly steel and nickel-based alloys. Knowledge of OEM quality systems and customer requirements. Experience using improvement tools such as: RCCA (Root Cause Corrective Action) SPC (Statistical Process Control) Error Proofing / Poka-Yoke Problem-solving methodologies Flexible approach to working hours to support customer visits and audits when required. This role is crucial for ensuring the control and compliance of products within the Quality Control inspection department in accordance with current manufacturing and Quality Assurance procedures, engineering drawings, and customer requirements. Day-to-day of the role: Verify the conformity of parts, assemblies, and sub-assemblies according to engineering drawings, the quality management system, and specific customer requirements. Ensure comprehensive completion and auditable traceability of inspection records. Support Production with the timely verification of batch first off. Create and compile First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs). Conduct inspection duties across all areas of the manufacturing and supply chain process as required. Identify and report non-conformance as per the Company procedure. Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance and HSE policies and procedures at all times. Process and return documentation for parts dispatched for external processing. Highlight and escalate quality concerns to production management and quality engineering. This role is crucial for generating CNC Part Programmes for 3, 4, and 5 Axis Machine Tools, creating new product processes, and improving manufacturing efficiency. Day-to-day of the role: Prepare CNC Programmes from planned processes, including tool definition, setup sheets, and tooling plans. Prove Programmes into production and own the configuration of all supporting process elements such as production routings, tooling, gauges, test equipment, work holding, and CNC programmes. Determine materials and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications at the lowest cost. Make improvements to current operations to enhance efficiency. Develop processes and methods to meet manufacturing requirements ensuring the lowest cost and highest quality. Develop transparent cost structures and identify potential reduction initiatives. Support the development of documentation to enhance process control. Collaborate with the New Product Introduction (NPI) team. Ensure that all engineering processes are controlled by the quality management system. Reed Engineering are currently working with a bespoke machinery manufacturer based in Chelmsford who are rapidly growing. Due to this growth, they are currently looking for Mechanical / Multi Skilled Assemblers to join their team on a permanent basis! This company offers a wealth of internal training and opportunities to develop your skills in a friendly and supportive team environment. Key Skills: Require competence in precision assembly work using Engineering drawings, process specifications, sketches and verbal instructions. The work involves the use of hand and power tools, setting and shimming, manual machining operations and the use of precision measuring instruments. Applicants should have previously worked in a similar environment, be able to operate as part of a team but be able to work with minimal supervision. Main Duties: Assembly of complex soldering machines involving electrically driven mechanical movements, pneumatic actuators and electronic control sub-systems. Essential Qualifications: Formal training in mechanical skills ideallywithin an apprenticeship coupled with a qualification to at least NVQ Level 2 or City & Guilds. Equipment familiarisation and process specific training will be given.
