We are seeking a self-motivated Manufacturing Engineer and CNC Programmer with expertise in precision manufacturing and aerospace practices. This role is crucial for generating CNC Part Programmes for 3, 4, and 5 Axis Machine Tools, creating new product processes, and improving manufacturing efficiency.
Day-to-day of the role:
Prepare CNC Programmes from planned processes, including tool definition, setup sheets, and tooling plans.
Prove Programmes into production and own the configuration of all supporting process elements such as production routings, tooling, gauges, test equipment, work holding, and CNC programmes.
Determine materials and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications at the lowest cost.
Make improvements to current operations to enhance efficiency.
Develop processes and methods to meet manufacturing requirements ensuring the lowest cost and highest quality.
Develop transparent cost structures and identify potential reduction initiatives.
Support the development of documentation to enhance process control.
Collaborate with the New Product Introduction (NPI) team.
Ensure that all engineering processes are controlled by the quality management system.
Conduct ongoing research into emerging manufacturing and production technology to complement current and future business strategies.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Proficient use of CAD/CAM Software to generate 3D Models and production of CNC Programmes (GibbsCAM preferred).
Highly capable in machine tool and cutting tool specification and application.
Understanding of and ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Previous use and experience of SOLIDWORKS.
Knowledge of precision engineering processes including general machining (milling and turning).
Knowledge of Aerospace requirements particularly operating to AS9100.
Ability to present and communicate at all levels including the customer where appropriate.
Proven experience of working to schedules and the ability to plan personal workloads.
Education:
Educated in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace) to degree / HNC / HND level or equivalent.
Experience in a Manufacturing / Production role within a medium / large precision engineering organisation, ideally within the aerospace sector.
Qualified/trained in relevant CAD/CAM Software.
