About the Company

Our client is a well-established and respected specialist within the fire and security sector, providing design, installation, commissioning and maintenance services to customers across the UK. Due to continued business requirements, they are seeking a Credit Controller to join their Nottingham-based team on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.

The Role

This role plays an important part in ensuring the effective management of customer accounts, maintaining a healthy sales ledger and supporting the wider finance function. You will be responsible for debt collection, cash allocation, credit administration and customer account management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing customer account queries and liaising with internal departments to resolve issues promptly
  • Chasing outstanding invoices by telephone and email
  • Proactively managing and collecting outstanding debt
  • Ensuring overdue balances remain within agreed targets
  • Allocating incoming payments accurately and efficiently
  • Reviewing new credit applications and conducting credit checks
  • Processing credit notes and maintaining accurate records
  • Producing and issuing customer statements
  • Supporting senior members of the credit control team
  • Assisting with general administration and ad hoc finance duties

About You

  • Previous experience within a Credit Control position
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Organised with effective time management skills
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Confident verbal and written communication skills
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Excel and financial/accounting software
  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
