A well-established, high-volume subcontract machining business is looking to add an experienced CNC Miller to its shop floor team. The company manufactures precision components for a diverse range of sectors including subsea, medical, hydraulics, oil & gas, food production, and general engineering.
The Role
This position will involve programming (where possible), setting, and operating a range of vertical machining centres, producing high-quality batch components to tight tolerances.
Typical responsibilities include:
Programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines including HAAS VF-4, Bridgeport V1000H (Heidenhain), and Hardinge VMC 600 MKII (Fanuc)
Manufacturing precision components in batch quantities ranging from small runs (~10 off) to larger volumes (~1000 off)
Working consistently to tight tolerances and high quality standards
Machining a variety of materials, from general engineering grades through to more specialist/exotic alloys
Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance
Requirements
Proven experience setting and operating CNC vertical machining centres
Strong background in milling within a precision engineering environment
Ability to work from technical drawings with minimal supervision
Experience using Fanuc and/or Heidenhain controls
Any programming capability would be advantageous, but not essential
Previous exposure to subcontract or jobbing environments would be beneficial
