The Role This position will involve programming (where possible), setting, and operating a range of vertical machining centres, producing high-quality batch components to tight tolerances. Typical responsibilities include: Programming, setting and operating CNC milling machines including HAAS VF-4, Bridgeport V1000H (Heidenhain), and Hardinge VMC 600 MKII (Fanuc) Manufacturing precision components in batch quantities ranging from small runs (~10 off) to larger volumes (~1000 off) Working consistently to tight tolerances and high quality standards Machining a variety of materials, from general engineering grades through to more specialist/exotic alloys Reading and interpreting engineering drawings to ensure accuracy and compliance Requirements Proven experience setting and operating CNC vertical machining centres Strong background in milling within a precision engineering environment Ability to work from technical drawings with minimal supervision Experience using Fanuc and/or Heidenhain controls Any programming capability would be advantageous, but not essential Previous exposure to subcontract or jobbing environments would be beneficial Personal Attributes Self-motivated and able to work independently Reliable, with a strong attention to detail Team-oriented, with a willingness to support colleagues when needed
