Raw Materials Manager
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Raw Materials Manager to take full ownership of the end-to-end management of raw materials and revert operations at our site in Sheffield.
Working closely with the Raw Materials Buyer and Senior Operations Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring a reliable, efficient, and cost-effective material supply chain. This position is critical to supporting production, driving sustainability through revert optimisation, and delivering operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with all health, safety, and environmental standards
Create and maintain Safe Working Procedures (SWPs) and Risk Assessments
Lead departmental auditsand ensure corrective actions are implemented
Maintain training compliance in line with the departmental training matrix
Operations & Supply Chain
Manage raw material stock levels in line with production demand
Work closely with Planning, Production, and Procurement teams
Create and manage melting charges using ABS & Odoo systems
Ensure production teams are supplied with the required materials on time
Maintain accurate inventory records to support operational planning
Leadership & Development
Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team
Implement training and succession plans
Drive a culture of accountability, engagement, and continuous improvement
Quality & Continuous Improvement
Ensure compliance with MI & TI quality procedures
Lead internal and customer quality audits
Collaborate with metallurgists and quality engineers to drive improvements
Support and implement lean initiatives (e.g., 5S, process mapping, value stream mapping)
Cost & Efficiency
Drive improvements in:
Material utilisation
Revert recovery and segregation
Inventory turns
Manage surplus and obsolete materials in line with company policy
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
A Level education or equivalent industry experience
Proven supervisory/ people management and leadership skills
Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment ideally in the metals industry
Desirable
Experience within metals manufacturing or metal sorting operations
Knowledge of scrap/revert processes would be advantageous although not essential
Demonstrable experience in lean manufacturing techniques
Supervisory or Management experience would be highly advantageous
