Reed are working in partnership with a well-established and growing organisation who are looking to recruit an experienced Accounts Payable Supervisor to join their finance team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on AP professional with supervisory experience to step into a key role, overseeing the day-to-day running of the accounts payable function while supporting and developing a small team.
The Role
Reporting to the Group Accounts Payable Manager, you will take ownership of the accounts payable process, ensuring accuracy, control and efficiency across all activities. You will also play a key role in driving improvements and supporting wider finance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership:
Managing, supporting and developing a small Accounts Payable team
Allocating workloads effectively within a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
Providing training, coaching and performance management
Ensuring compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures
Deputising for the Group AP Manager when required
Supporting KPI reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
Contributing to system and process enhancements
Accounts Payable:
Overseeing the end-to-end invoice processing cycle
Reviewing supplier statement reconciliations
Managing payment runs including BACS, CHAPS and international payments
Ensuring payments are made in line with agreed terms
Resolving supplier and internal queries in a timely manner
Overseeing employee expenses and corporate card reconciliations
Supporting month-end close activities
Maintaining strong financial controls across the function
About You
Our client is looking for a proactive and detail-focused individual who can confidently lead a team while remaining hands-on.
You will have:
Proven experience within an Accounts Payable supervisory role
Strong Excel skills (including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs and data analysis)
Excellent reconciliation skills and high attention to detail
Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
Strong understanding of financial controls and compliance
Desirable:
Experience within legal or professional services
Exposure to system implementations or process improvements
