Quality Inspector

We are seeking a dedicated Quality Inspector to ensure that our clients products and processes meet the highest quality standards and customer requirements. This role is crucial in maintaining excellence throughout our manufacturing process by conducting inspections, testing products, identifying non-conformances, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Inspection & Testing:

    • Conduct first-off, in-process, and final inspections of products.
    • Verify that products meet engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
    • Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections using appropriate measuring equipment.
    • Maintain accurate inspection and testing records and ensure calibration status of measuring equipment is checked and monitored.
  • Quality Assurance:

    • Identify and report non-conforming products and processes.
    • Raise non-conformance reports (NCRs) and assist with corrective actions.
    • Support root cause investigations and implementation of preventative measures.
    • Collaborate with Production and Engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Documentation & Compliance:

    • Complete quality documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Ensure compliance with company quality procedures and industry standards.
    • Support internal and external audits as required.
    • Maintain traceability records and inspection reports.
  • Continuous Improvement:

    • Assist in driving quality improvement initiatives across the business.
    • Monitor recurring quality issues and recommend improvements.
    • Support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement activities.
    • Promote a culture of quality awareness throughout the organisation.
  • Health & Safety:

    • Adhere to all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
    • Maintain a clean and organised work area.
    • Report safety concerns and participate in risk assessments where required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a Quality Inspector role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience using inspection and measuring equipment such as Vernier calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and Go/No-Go gauges.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable:

  • Experience within fibre optics, fibre cabling, electronics, telecommunications, or engineering manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • Understanding of root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
  • Internal Auditor qualification.
  • Familiarity with ERP or quality management systems.
