My client is looking for a Project Technician to join their team on a 6 month Fixed Term Contract initially with the chance to go permanent.  You will play a crucial role in liaising with various departments including External and Internal Sales, Technical Services, and Purchasing to prepare accurate quotations in response to RFQs from both existing and prospective customers.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Analyse customer RFQs and documentation to accurately determine technical requirements and specifications to generate detailed and competitive quotations.
  • Read and interpret Engineering drawings, Bills of Materials, and possess strong electrical component knowledge for thorough technical reviews and accurate assessments.
  • Work with the Purchasing Department to canvass suppliers for accurate material pricing and lead times for the preparation of detailed quotations.
  • Identify and apply correct component specifications or approved alternatives, prioritising the use of the business' materials.
  • Utilise ERP systems effectively and have experience in using specialised quoting or estimating software.
  • Maintain strong commercial awareness with knowledge of relevant costing calculations (e.g., margin %, waste %) to align all quotations with margin targets.
  • Follow established procedures and processes, ensuring accurate recording, documentation and communication in line with the Quality Management system.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail in all costings, documentation and quotations.
  • Exhibit strong time management and organisational skills to consistently complete tasks within required timescales.
  • Work effectively with colleagues across departments to achieve deadlines and organisational objectives.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong IT proficiency and experience in using ERP and quoting or estimating software.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical components.
  • Experience working within a recognised Quality Management System (e.g., ISO 9001:2015).
  • Strong commitment to continuous improvement practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and team-oriented approach.

This role will be Hybrid working with 2 days a week in the office and working a 39hr week - Monday to Thursday: 08:00 – 16: 30 and Friday: 08:00 – 15:30
